A royal welcome
The Princess of Wales paid a special visit to Foxcubs Nursery in Luton last month – here’s some more details from the day
As part of the Alliance’s continued work to raise the profile of the early years sector, we were absolutely delighted to welcome The Princess of Wales to Foxcubs Nursery, a outstanding-rated setting run by the Alliance in Luton, in January 2023.
During the visit, The Princess had the opportunity to speak to educators and children, as well as parents and carers, about the pivotal role of early education in shaping children’s learning, development and life chances.
Alliance CEO Neil Leitch, who also attended the visit, took the opportunity to thank The Princess for her ongoing work to highlight the importance of early education, and to discuss the aims of the #WeAreEducators campaign with her.
Commenting on the visit, Neil, said: “It was an absolute privilege to welcome The Princess of Wales to Foxcubs Nursery this morning. We know that early education is a key focus for The Princess and the work of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood has been pivotal in changing perceptions of early childhood and raising awareness of the critical importance of the early years.
“Given that our current campaign, #WeAreEducators, is all about shining a light on our fantastic educational professionals, we are incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to showcase the outstanding early years provision at Foxcubs to The Princess.
“We would like to express to The Princess our deep gratitude for her unwavering commitment to our sector, and we look forward to supporting the continued work of the Royal Foundation on this important issue.”
Sharing a video from the visit on Twitter, The Prince and Princess of Wales said: “Outstanding early years settings like this play a huge role in positively shaping a child’s development. The collaboration between staff and parents is just one of the ways children here are supported in their first five years.”
The Princess of Wales has previously raised awareness of the importance of early childhood and its link to later outcomes. In 2021, she launched the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which works to raise awareness of the importance of the early years and promote collaborative action.
