TRAINING AND CPD
Dingley’s Promise has launched high-quality, fully-funded SEND training across England
As the number of children with SEND in early years continues to rise, having the knowledge, skills and confidence to provide genuinely inclusive experiences is more important than ever. In response to this increased pressure, Dingley's Promise has been commissioned by the Department for Education (DfE) to provide fully-funded SEND training programmes to help educators feel more confident to support children with SEND.
Catherine Mole, CEO of Dingley’s Promise, said: “We are delighted to have been selected to lead on this early years focused training programme. This programme offers early years educators the opportunity to upskill and gain more confidence to support children with SEND, crucially at no cost to themselves or the setting. This investment from the government also shows the increasing value being placed on early years education and its vital impact as part of the education system.”
"This is a key step towards ensuring that every child has access to the right support at the earliest point possible, to give many more children the best start in life. We would encourage all early years settings to access this training and take a whole setting approach to inclusion, as we know first-hand how transformational this can be.”
Three courses have been developed, providing practical information, strategies and reflective tools to improve the inclusive approach within early years settings. The new training programme has been designed to give educators practical support they can take straight into their everyday practice – helping settings create environments where every child can participate, belong and thrive.
Foundations of inclusive practice Explore inclusive mindsets, the graduated approach, celebratory approaches, behaviour as communication and ways to meet the needs of every child.
Embedding inclusive practice Consider how curriculum, environments, early identification and communication can be adapted to support participation and development.
Parent partnerships Develop collaborative relationships with families, navigate difficult conversations and support successful transitions for children with SEND.
The courses are suitable for educators at all levels and across all types of early years provision, including childminders. Delivered online, the training fits around existing commitments, with no cost to individuals or their settings.
Dingley’s Promise has more than 40 years’ experience supporting children with SEND in the early years and has trained more than 35,000 educators across England in the past five years. This programme brings that expertise directly to the early years sector, providing practical tools and strategies to strengthen inclusive practice.
Take the opportunity to develop your knowledge, strengthen your practice and make inclusion part of everyday life in your setting.
