After receiving a well-deserved ‘Outstanding’ grade from Ofsted following an inspection in December 2023, the children and families of Ladybirds Pre-School in Thorrington got together recently to celebrate this achievement with a tea party!

Everyone got to enjoy outdoor activities as well as shared cakes and refreshments, before pausing for a celebratory photograph to mark the occasion in which the children proudly wore special ‘outstanding’ T-shirts!

Kathryn Long, Ladybirds’ manager, commented:

“We are so proud of our ladybirds and the report, which contained some amazing comments:

‘The staff team deliver an exciting and challenging curriculum and all children make rapid progress.’

‘Staff create an exciting outdoor environment.’

‘Parents commented extremely positively of all aspects of the pre-school. They treat each child with kindness, warmth and respect.’

“A really super afternoon was had by all; it was fantastic to have so many families and friends with us!”

Wiggington Pre-school in Tring, Hertfordshire, is celebrating a fantastic milestone in 2024 – its 50th year! And to celebrate, children and staff are throwing seasonal parties and a Funday for both past and present families.

The pre-school’s milestone is a big event and achievement for the village of Wigginton. It started off as a parent and toddler group in 1974; with only a handful of children and parents who came together once a week, it moved into the village hall, where it then grew into daily sessions. Over the last nine years and with new management, it has been able to expand its hours and provision, now hosting a Forest School, additional hours and weekly in-house dance sessions.

Due to increasing demand, the setting extended provision to include children from age one and is now starting to see the children of parents who attended in the nineties dropping their little ones off, which is a huge testament to the care, love and support provided by the staff at Wiggington Pre-school!
