Judith is the training quality manager for the Alliance, overseeing the quality of teaching, learning and assessment of all accredited qualifications
Are you hoping to build your leadership and management skills in the early years? The Level 5 Diploma for an Early Years Senior Practitioner qualification – which aims to support both of those skills in the early years – could be what you’re looking for.
This qualification will help prepare and enable you to become a room leader, deputy or manager in an early years setting, transforming you into a positive role model for the team. It’s also an ideal opportunity to refresh your knowledge of relevant legislation so you can support and promote best practice within legislative requirements to promote quality provision.
Another benefit of the Level 5 Diploma is that it encourages you to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers and other professionals you will engage and motivate all involved for improved outcomes for babies and children.
The areas covered in the qualification include:
quality improvement – early years pedagogy – behaviour – care routines – professional development – special educational needs and disability – safeguarding – play for learning – partnership working – leading and managing – health, safety and wellbeing – equality, diversity and inclusion
There are 18 mandatory units to be completed covering knowledge and skills.
The Early Years Alliance has highly qualified, professional, supportive assessors who will work with you to achieve your qualification within 18 months. The qualification can be funded privately or through an Advanced Learner Loan.
■ monthly virtual classroom sessions to support you with knowledge before you complete written tasks.
■ free access to accredited online learning modules throughout your qualification to support knowledge and CPD.
■ planned monthly one-to-one catch-up sessions with your assessor to support and guide you where needed – ad hoc support is available as and when needed.
■ regular observations of practice throughout the course.
■ 12-weekly reviews of your progress with yourself, your assessor and your manager/mentor.
■ all registration and certification costs.
