Welcome to March’s edition of Under 5 magazine! In this month’s magazine, we’re focusing particularly on reading in light of World Book Day on 6 March 2025.
In Inspiration Corner, the Alliance’s Melanie Pilcher focuses on poetry and rhyme in celebration of World Poetry Day, while Book Nook shares a list of favourite classics for little ones and provides a selection of tips and tricks to build a love of reading. Over in Family Corner, we look at the art of storytelling and how families can engage children in shared reading.
Meanwhile, the Alliance’s Alison Heseltine celebrates the learning that can come from rainy days and shares fun from Bradford’s recent ‘rainy day learning and play’ session, and Law-Call provides some recruitment ‘dos and don’ts’ in part 1 of their recruitment-focused articles.
As March arrives, hopefully bringing warmer weather and sunshine, it’s important to stay grounded and focused on the things we can change and impact in this world via our work with little ones – especially as scary changes and conflict come to the forefront of both news and politics.
Take care,
Jess Gibson, editor
