Have you signed up for this year's National Week of Play?
This year's National Week of Play takes place from 13 - 19 June and is focused specifically on eco-sustainability and how by opening children’s eyes to the awe and wonder of the world through play, we can support their growing understanding of how important it is to protect it.

All providers and parents are welcome to join this year’s event – whether already seasoned eco-warriors, or just starting out on their sustainability journey. Because even the smallest of steps can make a big difference – it’s taking that first step that’s important.

What's happening?
We'll be sharing free tips, activities and ideas to help you get involved in Play Week, including:

  • Resources and activity ideas for you to try throughout the week, including free-and-found story sacks, a nature's treasure basket poster and Forest School activity ideas.

  • Ideas for parents, including an outdoor resource pack to share with families and encourage them to get involved in the Week of Play.

  • A podcast with Christina and Robbie Dee from the Forest School Learning Initiative discussing how ‘playful’ outdoor learning experiences can help children to connect with nature.

  • Daily blogs all on the topic of play.

  • Press release templates so you can share your stories about how you have been celebrating Play Week.

Sign up to take part in the National Week of Play and we'll email you with details of all the resources and activities once they are available - all for free!

We're also hosting a special Play Week Connect and Virtual Classroom focused on eco-sustainability in the early years, and how providers can support children’s understanding of sustainability through play. We hope to see you there!

Win a Muddy Faces outdoor mud kitchen worth £380!

We’ve also teamed up with Muddy Faces to offer those who take part in Play Week 2022 and share their activities with us a chance to win an outdoor mud kitchen for their provision.

Muddy Faces said: “Muddy Faces is proud to support the second National Week of Play. We especially love outdoor play — it benefits the emotional and physical development of the child and promotes a love and respect for the outdoors that will last a lifetime. We are delighted that this year's theme is eco-sustainability — what could contribute to sustainability more than a generation of children who want to protect and conserve the places they find so much joy, excitement and connection in?”
