Boys and Girls Nursery in Rickmansworth is celebrating a ‘good’ rating after its latest Ofsted inspection. The inspector commented on the children being “confident learners” and praised the team for how well they know all the children. The management team’s support and encouragement for their staff was also highlighted. Natasha Kirby, director at the group, said: “The whole team work extremely hard and it’s great to see this reflected in the comments made by the inspectors.”


New pen pal

Children at Old Sarum Nursery in Salisbury have made a new friend after they wrote to Oshine, the nursery leader of the orangutan group at Monkey World in Dorset. The children shared photos of them enjoying Monkey World’s Ape Rescue Chronicle as well as pictures they had drawn of the orangutan. They were thrilled to receive a reply from Oshine including pictures of her and the orangutan nursery. Monkey World also filmed a video for the children, showing the orangutans enjoying ice lollies in the hot weather.


Fire safety

Jellybabies Nursery and Pre-school in Birmingham enjoyed a visit from local firefighter Adam Brady, who taught them about fire safety and showed they how to stop, drop and roll. The children were given a chance to dress up as firefighters and role play putting out a fire using a hose. All families were given a safety checklist for their homes and were presented with a Junior Fire Inspector certificate.


Ofsted success

The team at Kingsway Pre-school in Essex are celebrating after achieving a second ‘outstanding’ Ofsted inspection. The inspector praised the “extremely stimulating and engaging” setting and “brilliantly resourced environment”, which is “completely tailored to children’s natural curiosity”. The report also highlighted children’s independence and care for their environment.


Growing garden

Bright Little Stars Nursery in Watford celebrated the launch of its new garden with a special opening party after a £30,000 refurbishment. Special guests Kelly Smith OBE and councillor Time Williams joined the team for the grand opening, with children enjoying a range of sports activities to help celebrate.


Happy Father’s Day

Children at Jellybabies Nursery and Pre-school in Birmingham made cards and gifts for Father’s Day, as they explore the theme: ‘people who help us’. The children recognised fathers, granddads, uncles and friends and shared messages about why these people are special to them.
