Welcome to the July/August 2023 issue of Under 5. A huge thank you to everyone who joined the Alliance’s annual conference taking place in June! We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback from those who attended. If you missed the event, don’t worry – we’ve got an overview of the opening conference. You can also find out more about Sue Butler, the winner of this year’s Belle Tutaev Lifetime Achievement Award.
Thank you, too, to everyone who took part in this year’s National Week of Play, which focused on the power of play in creating connections. We share some of the fantastic activities that took place during the week here.
This month, we also look at the importance of prioritising the process of learning over and above a pre-determined end product in the early years – you can find out more here. We’ve also got a detailed overview of the new consultation on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework, including significant proposal to change the qualifications required to count in early years ratios here.
I’m also pleased to announce that our new Under 5 editor, Jess Gibson, will be officially joining us next month! Please share your good news and views with her at editor.u5@eyalliance.org.uk – she would love to hear from you.
