Welcome to Under 5

Hello and a huge welcome to the July/August issue of Under 5!

With the end of the academic year in sight and ‘transition’ on many a mind, we’ve got a bumper issue for the summer focused on family fun, friendship, and the future – including a sneak preview of the Alliance’s upcoming Connect Roadshow in Bradford: where, who, and what to expect.

In this month’s expanded Family Corner, we have an in-depth look at the joys of camping for little ones and how families can prepare for their outdoor adventure! Inspiration Corner this month celebrates the UN’s International Day of Friendship, looking at the ways cultivating diverse friendships can aid social skills and learning in under-fives. Over in our baby and toddler groups section, we share ways to make sure your group is both friendly and welcoming to all, while also offering families a space to chat and decompress.

Book Nook this month embarks upon a learning journey about Islam (inspired by the holy month of Muharram, or Islamic New Year) with a selection of book suggestions to help aid children’s enthusiasm, sensitivity, and understanding.
Meanwhile, as the country welcomes in a newly-elected government, we take a look at global trends in early education and care following the publication of a new report by UNICEF.

With lots to get stuck into, we hope you take a well-earned break with an ice-cold drink in the sun and enjoy our super summer issue!
